Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) Development through Multi Sports
Fundamental movement skills are the building blocks of physical literacy, laying the foundation for a lifetime of active living. These essential abilities, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching, empower children to engage confidently in a wide range of sports and physical activities. By mastering these core skills, young learners develop the coordination, balance, and agility needed to explore their world with enthusiasm and joy. At Tiger Kids, we believe that nurturing these fundamental movement skills is crucial for the holistic development of our students, setting them up for a future filled with the boundless benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle. Engaging in a variety of sports helps children develop fundamental movement skills, such as balance, coordination, and agility, which are essential for overall physical development and future athletic success.
Why Choose Multi Sports
-
Allow your child to experience different sports
Giving your child the chance to play a variety of sports allows them the opportunity to build a deeper appreciation for sports, and sports-positive attitude. Studies have shown that kids who play more than 1 sport from young have a higher sports I.Q. and tend to retain interest in the sport that they may choose to specialise better.
-
Develop your child's Fundamental Movement Skills
One of the key advantage of doing multi sports is that toddlers and kids can achieve Fundamental Movement Skills Development. These skills are vital for kids to develop an active lifestyle, encourages long-term health, and reduce the risk of injuries that have higher occurrence with repetitive movements, such as when specialising in one sport.
-
Help your child build a strong foundation and essential life skills
Besides developing their Fundamental Movement Skills, children who do multi sports also learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship and fair play. Research has shown that athletes with a multi sports background demonstrate higher resilience, mental strength and emotional intelligence. TLDR; Multi Sports athletes are better athletes!
